The average American thinks learning to drive a car should take an hour or so. Actually, it takes years to become a good driver and many drivers never achieve that skill. If most parents are honest with themselves, they will tell each other they really don't want to teach their teens to drive. That's where Atlantic Driving School comes to the rescue. Teaching defensive, life saving driving skills to teens and adults alike for 15 years has given us a unique perspective on the physics, mathematics and psychology of driving.
Couple this with our "Specific Point of Reference" and "In Advance Of" methods of instruction, and parents suddenly have a very viable alternative to that potentially dreadful anguish of attempting to teach their teen to drive. When you tell your teen to turn left at the corner, you're setting yourself and your teen up for potential disaster. "Turn left at the corner" isn't an instruction, it's a direction, and one most teens aren't ready for.
When does your teen take their foot off the gas? When do they engage their turn signal? When do they begin the braking process? How much brake? For how long? When do they lift off the brake to let the car roll? When do they begin their turn-in? How much turn of the wheel? For how long and when do they begin their turn-out? These are actual points of instruction our instructors provide with military precision.
Most parents don't talk about this but many parents think their teen has been taking mental notes for 15 years, so when you and your teen finally get into the family sedan for that first lesson, and you says something like, "o.k., lets go," and your teen looks at you and says, "go where" and you say something like, "you know, drive." And they look back at you and say something like, "no, I don't know, I thought that's why you're here". When you begin to realize you're going to have to verbally and physically communicate this whole attempt without any help from your teen, the color begins to drain from your face. What have you just gotten yourself and your teen into? Did you really sign up for this?
The good news is; ADS, Inc. is here to make this monumental stage in both your lives much easier than either one of you could have ever imagined. Each lesson is a full-page lesson plan with 15-20 different procedures taught per lesson. We actively go out in search of the traffic and varied driving environments that most parents seek to avoid. Upon completion of each lesson, your teen brings home a copy of that lesson plan to show you exactly what they were taught, exactly how well they responded and exactly what needs to be practiced to prepare them for their next lesson. We're there from start to finish; instructing, coaching, reviewing, and preparing your teen for this next big step in their life. We love to have parents or family members stop by for a visit to share their concerns and questions. Driving lessons make great gifts from the grandparents, too. We're open Mon. - Fri. from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and by appointment. Give the gift that lasts a lifetime.....defensive, life saving driving lessons. Someday, your teen will thank you!
